Shadow Pandemic: Examining Erie's Domestic Violence During Covid-19

The presentation discusses the trends and nature of domestic violence in Erie during the pandemic. Using five years (2017-2021) of domestic violence data of Erie Police Department, the paper examines the spatial distribution of domestic violence during COVID's pre-lockdown, lockdown, and post-lockdown periods.

This lecture will highlight the Lawrence Family Archives maintained by Ms. Ada Lawrence and their importance in exploring the history and legacy of Erie's African American community. It will discuss how these Archives came about, the role of the Harry T. Burleigh Society and the Burleigh Legacy Alliance in cataloging and digitizing them for research and public viewing aided by a grant from the Erie Community Foundation.

Compton's Table: Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth

Dr. Tyler Titus (They/Them pronouns) launched Compton's Table, a local nonprofit, in 2021 to combat social isolation that led to increased suicidality among LGBTQ+ youth. They currently serve as the board President and look forward to building a stronger organization presence in the region.

We celebrate and support the unique qualities of employees, agents, and customers through various programs at ERIE. Erie Insurance African American Affinity Network is part of a larger group of nine employee Affinity Networks that provide a platform for Employees to celebrate, educate, and build acceptance for various dimensions of diversity, including: African American, Asian Pacific, Dignity & Respect, enABLEd (neurodiversity), Generation Connection, Hispanic American, Pride Alliance, Veterans, and Women. In this presentation, Erie Insurance representatives Lyn Twillie-Darby and Regina Gaston will touch on the different Affinity Networks that Erie Insurance has, then dive deep into the African American Affinity Network that they are both very instrumental in.
