The Jefferson Educational Society will feature two lectures on the proposed Erie Intermodal Rail Terminal in Harborcreek. This rail terminal is being developed by DevelopErie and private investor-operators to provide new rail service to the Erie region, and has been an issue of much talk and debate in the community. Both sides of the argument will be examined in the Jefferson Educational Society's 2014 Spring Term.

In the Jefferson Educational Society’s 2014 Spring Term, the Brock Institute will debut the “East Meets West” Lecture Series, which will discuss the mega issues of these two worlds. There are fascinating sides to our differences. Clearly the way we think philosophically in the broadest sense influences our politics, economics, business, medicine, and science and vice versa - these are interrelated. Included are capitalism versus communism and their variants, different concepts of medicine, subjectivity/objectivity in religion, business and economics, and all these can relate to the chief symbol of Chinese Taoism with its attempts to reconcile opposites versus the binary Western approaches which often widens the gaps.

“Living History Week” – sponsored by Little Caesars - returns in the Jefferson’s Educational Society’s 2014 Spring Term. Four re-enactors from the American Historical Theatre in Philadelphia, PA will visit the JES for programs that will literally bring history to life!

The Jefferson Educational Society - located at 3207 State Street - will kick off its Spring Term on Monday, April 14, 2014 with Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and her presentation, “The First 100 Days as Erie County Executive – Where Will We Go From Here?” Overall, the schedule consists of twenty-two programs – including four “Living History” lectures.
