The History of Impeachment: Scandals and Grounds

January 29th,2020 | 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Robert Speel, Ph.D.

Dr. Speel will be discussing the impeachments of Presidents Andrew Johnson,
Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump, and near impeachment of Richard Nixon,
with comparisons of the grounds for impeachment in each case, the partisan
natures of the impeachment processes, the outcomes of the impeachment,
and the impacts on later elections. While the scandals that led to each
president's impeachment were different in nature, some similarities in the
accusations made also form surprising patterns in several of the cases.
