The American Dream in the U.S., Europe, and Asia: Is It Healthier There than Here?

October 9th,2018 | 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Charles Brock, M.Litt.

The American Dream means at least two things – global responsibility and personal fulfillment. George W. Bush's chief assistant Karl Rove notes that both may be in trouble, stating that if Americans no longer believe in the American Dream, then there is little hope for the rest of the West, because the values of work, responsibility, and optimism are already eroding in Europe. Our international panelist will analyze its meaning and validity across the globe.

– A panel discussion featuring: Lena Surzhko-Harned, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Humanities and Social Studies, Penn State Behrend; Bruce Kibler, Ph.D. Professor, Dahlkemper School of Business, Gannon University; Xin Zhao, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Black School of Business, Penn State Behrend; and moderated by Rev. Charles Brock M. Litt., Founder of the Brock Institute and Director of the Institute on the American Dream.
