Uncovering Rural Poverty: Data, Statistics, and Analysis

 

Rural poverty is a topic that doesn't seem to get as much attention as it should. In this lecture, Dr. Ken Louie, Director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie (ERIE) and professor of economics, will highlight the data and statistics of poverty in rural Erie County to further contextualize this issue.

Ken Louie, Ph.D.

Dr. Louie is Director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie (ERIE) and Associate Professor of Economics in the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend. He received his B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His areas of specialization are macroeconomics, international economics, the economics of labor markets, and the economy of China. As director of ERIE, Dr. Louie has provided analysis and commentary on issues related to the Erie economy for local and national news media.
