Jim is the Director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie at Penn State Behrend, in Erie PA.  He is an Associate Professor of Economics and is finishing his 35th year with the college.  He has done grant and contract work with a range of local and state organizations, and presents an annual ERIE economic conference focusing on a topic of current interest to the region.  His recent research has focused on measuring brain drain/gain in the local area, as well as estimating local cost of living for counties nationwide.  A past President of the Association for University Business and Economic Research, he serves on the ACCRA Cost of Living Index Advisory Board for C2ER and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation of Erie County.  He has won several college, university, and community awards for teaching, advising, outreach, and research mentoring.  He is also a performing member of Erie’s comedy troupe “In All Seriousness.”   (A lot of people think he’s “a little funny.”)
