Shakespeare’s 400-Year Afterlife – Reinventions and Adaptations for Our Times

Dr. King’s presentation will highlight the ways in which William Shakespeare, through this year that marks the 400th anniversary of his death, remains a strong and relevant force in our world.  The last twenty years have seen myriad new stage productions, film versions, and literary adaptations of Shakespeare’s works. – Douglas King, Ph.D.  

Douglas King,Ph.D.

Dr. King is an Associate Professor of English at Gannon, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Shakespeare, film, and Renaissance Drama. He has a Ph.D. in English-Renaissance Studies from Duquesne University. Dr. King has taught Shakespeare to students from kindergarten to graduate school. His dissertation focused on adaptations of Shakespeare for children.
