Autism 101: What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?

 

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex, lifelong developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication, self-regulation, and behavioral challenges. Autism is referred to as a spectrum disorder – meaning the symptoms can occur in any combination and with varying degrees of severity. The Autism experience is different for everyone. In this lecture, Autism Society of NWPA Executive Director Tish Bartlett will discuss the ins and outs of Autism. This program is perfect for individuals, local businesses, and organizations to increase understanding and acceptance to best support individuals with Autism and their families in our community.

Her dedication to the cause led her to earn an Autism Certification in 2020. As a proud mother of a 20-year-old son living with Autism, Tish embodies firsthand experience and professional expertise. She combines formal education with personal insights gained from navigating daily life with Autism. Tish Bartlett stands as a beacon of advocacy, championing awareness, support, and understanding for individuals and families affected by Autism in her community and beyond.
