Political participation is an important component of civic life. In this program, Corry Area School Board Director Dr. Doris Gernovich will explain why political participation is necessary, especially in small towns, and how one can get more involved in civic life in Corry.

Corry Area School Board

Doris Gernovich, Ph.D., received her doctorate in educational psychology, and is in her 17th year on the Corry Area School Board of Directors, where she was president for 12 years.  Prior to being elected to the school board, Dr. Gernovich was a teacher and administrator working with the at risk student population for 35 years.  After retirement from public schools, she worked for 12 years in the private sector as an educational consultant.  Past boards she has served include Corry Housing Authority, Erie Housing Authority, Corry Counseling, Northwest Intermediate Unit, and Corry Concerned for Youth. In 2002 she represented Pennsylvania on the Oxford University Round Table for Human Rights.  In addition to the Corry School Board, her current participation on boards include Erie County Care Management and Village Friends.
