February 19th,2025 | 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Speaker: Grammy Award Winner Michelle Cann and Erie Philharmonic Orchestra Members

In celebration of Black History Month, Gannon University, in partnership with the JES and other community organizations, will host Grammy-winning, internationally-touring concert pianist Michelle Cann, foremost interpreter of the music of Florence Price (1887-1953). Price was the first African-American woman to have her work performed by a major symphony orchestra. Gannon students will narrate this concert, helping audiences understand Price's life amidst the broad arc of African American history. The concert will present Price's Piano Concerto in D Minor and her Sonata in E Minor, featuring musicians from the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra.

As of Feb. 12, the advanced registration for this event through the JES has closed. This does NOT mean the event has reached capacity. The JES, along with event host Gannon University and other community partners supporting this event, will continue to welcome attendees as walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
