March 11th,2020 | 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Corrine Egan, B.A.

Afternoon Lecture

In this series on remarkable women in U.S. history, Corrine Egan presents Jane
Addams, a first woman figure in many ways: she was an American settlement
activist, reformer, social worker, sociologist, public administrator and author.
She was a notable figure in the history of social work and women's suffrage
in the United States and an advocate for world peace. In 1920, she was a cofounder
for the American Civil Liberties Union, and in 1931, she became the
first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. When Addams
died in 1935, she was the best-known female public figure in the United
States.
