Nutrition and Aging: Eating to Prevent Disease

Learn about how food choices influence your risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity, and how these diagnoses are major contributors not only to heart disease and stroke, but to certain types of cancer as well. It doesn't cost more to eat well, but it may take a little more planning, and Dr. Sukol will show you how. Also, remember: If you don't spend it at the grocery store, you'll spend it at the drug store.

Roxanne B. Sukol, M.D., is a 1995 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with distinction in Biomedical Ethics, and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the Honor Medical Society. She earned an M.S. from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, and a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University. She has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1998, and has devoted her career to preventive medical care. Dr. Sukol writes and lectures on health and wellness, lifestyle change, stress management, prevention and reversal of diabetes and obesity.  Her essays have appeared in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Wall Street Journal, and she has been quoted in TIME Magazine, US News, Martha Stewart Magazine, New York Times, and Redbook.
