Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis served as presidents of nations at war with one another on American soil. Being born within a year of each other, and about 20 miles apart, carved a remarkable story that shaped their lives and the fate of our country. Join Erie County Civil War Roundtable Moderator and Coordinator Rick Tome to learn about Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis through their triumphs and tragedies. 

 

This event is part of the JES's USA 250 Event Series, and is in partnership with the Erie County Civil War Roundtable.

Rick Tome, B.S.

 

Rick Tome is a lifelong resident of the Erie area. 

 

After receiving a B.S. in Science and Education from Gannon University, Rick taught briefly in the General McLane, Erie, and Iroquois School Districts. 

 

The bulk of his career was spent in health care where he met his wife of 41 years. 

 

As the father of two adult children and two beautiful grandchildren Rick's family is his greatest joy. 

 

Besides interests in golf, Cleveland baseball, and time with friends, Rick developed a strong interest in learning as much as he can about the characters and events surrounding the American Civil War. 

 

Currently serving as Moderator and a Coordinator of the Erie County Civil War Round Table, Rick is excited to present to you, "Lincoln and Davis: Triumphs and Tragedies".
