Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Bob Green

Bob Green, winemaker and professor, will lead a discussion of what wine is, and why it has such staying power based on its chemistry; explore the route wine has taken from the Black Sea region including its spread throughout Europe; examine the introduction of vineyards and wine to North America; and provide timeline of events in the Lake Erie region with regard to vineyards and wine.  In partnership with the Hagen History Center. Mazza wine sampling is included in the reception from 6 to 7 p.m.

Bob Green

Bob Green’s name has been synonymous with wine in the Lake Erie region for decades.  

 

Bob might best be known as the Presque Isle Wine Cellars Executive Winemaker from 2015 to 2024.  He has also served as a consulting enologist for startups and existing wineries throughout Pennsylvania, western New York, and Eastern Ohio since 2005. 

 

The Penn State University graduate shares his knowledge with the next generation of winemakers as an instructor since 1996. He spent 25 years in the Mercyhurst University Hospitality Department and Culinary & Wine Institute along with similar role for nine years at Harrisburg Area Community College. 

 

He currently serves as a Penn State Behrend part-time, lead instructor, a position he’s held since 2019.  

 

He has a BS in environmental biology from PSU.
