Why is it important to have culturally conscious conversations, and how does doing so help us personally, and professionally? Brandon Wiley, the CEO of Opened Eyes, an Erie-based nonprofit with a mission to create cultural unity and awareness, and develop positive self-identification, will review the organization's founding, history, and impact by promoting cross-cultural understanding and acceptance. He will also share evidence-based approaches, real-world examples, and actionable techniques to empower attendees to integrate cultural awareness into their daily lives and professional practices.

Brandon Wiley, originally from Sharon, Pa, graduated from Gannon University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and continued his education there, earning his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2013. Brandon then earned his licensure as a Mental Health Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania. He serves as the Founder & CEO of OpenedEyes and works at the United States Department of Veteran Affairs as the Community Engagement & Partnership Coordinator in Suicide Prevention.
Brandon founded OpenedEyes to address personal challenges as a biracial man raised by a black father and white mother. Through OpenedEyes, he channeled his struggles into a transformative endeavor, aiming to inspire profound changes in others' personal and professional journeys. Brandon and his OpenedEyes team serve as consultants, facilitating what they call Culturally Conscious Conversations. These discussions focus on fostering wellness, resilience, leadership, youth development, and promoting healthier work environments.
