Haborcreek Satellite: Ukraine and Russia: Where Are We Now, Where Are We Headed?

July 23rd,2025 | 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Lena Surzhko-Harned, Ph.D.

On Feb. 24, 2022, Russia attacked and invaded Ukraine, declaring war on the sovereign nation. Prior to February 2022, some observers predicted that Ukraine did not stand a chance if Russia invaded, and Kyiv was expected to fall in three days. Yet they did; and it didn't; and peace talks have been in discussion for months. What has happened, and how has the war changed over the years? What has the impact been as Donald Trump returned to the White House as the 47th President of the United States in 2025?  Is peace possible? And what might that look like? Join Penn State Behrend Political Science Professor and JES Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Lena Surzhko-Harned for a discussion of these questions and many more.
