In its nineteenth month of operation, Groundwork Erie has more than doubled its workforce, providing competitive wage jobs to youth in the urban core. Executive Director Aaron K. Kerr and the board of directors have set up a vehicle in Erie through which youth can become skilled conservationists and environmental leaders while earning a competitive wage.This presentation will provide details and explore economic models for a new paradigm of workforce development in Erie County.

Aaron K. Kerr, Ph.D., is the author of two books in Environmental Ethics and Conservation Education, Encounters in Thought (Cascade, 2019) and Mediations between Nature and Culture (Lexington 2022).
Dr. Kerr recently received a grant from the Brocher Institute and is one of 13 scholars from the U.S. invited to participate with 24 international researchers in Global Bioethics at Geneva Switzerland’s center for reflection on the impact of medicine and technology in society. https://fondation-brocher.ch/
