The United States incarcerates more people, in both absolute numbers and
per capita, than any other nation in the world. The American Civil Liberties
Union Campaign for Smart Justice is a multiyear effort to reduce the U.S. jail
and prison population by 50 percent and to combat racial disparities in the
criminal justice system. In an effort to end mass incarceration, the Smart
Justice Campaign addresses sentence reform, bail reform, prosecutorial
reform, parole and release, and re-entry. Join ACLU Senior Field Organizer
Terrell Thomas to gain an understanding of the Campaign for Smart Justice
in Pennsylvania and throughout the nation.
