Sister Cities – An Economic Development Comparison between Erie, PA and Lublin, Poland

Erie, PA has four official Sister Cities. In particular, Erie shares similar economic development patterns with its Sister in Poland: Lublin. Both cities are attempting to development their economies towards a more prosperous future. Drs. Kibler and Pasierbiak will cover the history and development of the cities and analyze key economic indicators, like manufacturing over the past twenty years to determine just how similar these Sisters are. – Bruce Kibler, Ph.D. and Pawel Pasierbiak, Ph.D.*

An assistant professor in the Institute of Economy and Finance, Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, Dr. Pasierbiak has taught there for the past 16 years. During that time he also taught International Trade, Finance, and Investment at universities in Spain and Germany. His field of research comprise economic development within the Asia-Pacific region and individual countries (Japan, China, South Korea, India), international economics, European integration, and regional economic integration.
