Jesus the Warrior

February 6th,2018 | 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Professor/Instructor/Speaker: Charles Brock, M.Litt.

This Brock Institute lecture goes against the common church teaching about Jesus as the redeemer from sin and death for believers. Milton, Paine, and Jefferson came to a much different conclusion about the crucifixion. In their view, Jesus died an insurrectionist because he went after the Jewish upper-class co-operation with Rome. He was a threat to the status quo and even threatened to apply force. Rev. Charles Brock will highlight the changing roles of Christ as political and religious Messiah, and what happened to his original liberation messages in the early Church when the gospels were written.
